The basic requirements for a cured powder coating are good appearance and durability. A good appearance results from careful control of substrate wetting, management of surface defects such as cratering and micro-pinholing, and the elimination of thermal discoloration. Whether the coating is glossy, flat or textured, the surface should also be uniformly developed. Durability is strongly linked to the underlying chemistry of the coating and the ability of the surface to withstand environmental factors such as abrasion, staining and UV light.
Cray Valley has a range of flow, levelling and surface modifiers specifically developed to enhance the appearance and surface properties of powder coatings. These modifiers are generally suitable for use in all chemistry types e.g. PRIMID, HYBRID and TGIC.
